STORY

Flextura is an experimental display typeface with the widest variable family offered by Gibon Type Foundry. It is a Blackletter Gothic-Antiqua type carrying the character of a broken letterform without rounded shapes, known as "textura," which has been shifted to a more readable version. Some characters that bear classical broken letters like "k" and "z" have been simplified into more legible forms. The typeface was designed with a variable thickness, revealing a monolinear skeleton within the design. Additionally, the typeface was initially designed as an experiment with variable height throughout the entire font. However, this proved to be user-unfriendly, and thus the current version features a condensed variable width. With more detailed settings, the axes can be adjusted, allowing the typeface to be paired at the same thickness but different widths.

The typeface captures attention, works well in display settings and animations, where it can showcase its deserved freedom and effectively claiming attention. The typeface is suitable for use as headline, titles, display sizes, logos, tattoos, large-scale advertising, the music industry, general advertising, or magazine headlines, book covers,. However, its variable axes offer much greater potential in animation.
